Minecraft server: getting started
Updated 02-10-2026
Your Minecraft server runs on our node and you manage it in the EpicHost customer panel: Panel → Servers → server name. This guide takes you from the purchase to your first time in the game.
After the purchase
The server installs itself, usually within a minute or two. You can follow it in the Console tab. When the installation is done, you get an e-mail (or a Discord message, if you chose that in Your profile → Notifications).
Starting the server
- Open the Console and click Start.
- On the first start Minecraft requires accepting Mojang's licence (EULA). The panel shows an "Accept the Minecraft EULA" window: once you accept, it saves your consent in
eula.txtand starts the server. - When the console shows
Done (…)! For help, type "help", the server is ready.
Type commands in the field below the console, without a slash, e.g.
op YourNickorwhitelist add YourNick.
How to connect
You find the server's address at the top of the server page and in Server settings → Addresses. There you can also set your own subdomain, e.g. myserver.epsrv.pl, so players do not need to remember the port number.
Game version and engine
In Add-ons → Engine you choose the server engine (Vanilla, Paper, Purpur, Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and more) and the game version. Changing the engine keeps the world and files, but make a copy in Backups before a big change.
The most important settings
In Server settings → Server you set the icon, MOTD, player count, game mode, difficulty and view distance. The full list of server.properties options, each with a description, is in the Advanced tab. Some changes apply only after a restart.
When something does not work
- The server stops right after starting: look at the Event log. When a server crashes, the panel saves the console from that moment and suggests the cause (e.g. EULA not accepted, wrong Java version, not enough RAM).
- Players cannot join: check that the server is running and that they use the right address with the port.
- Still not sure what is going on: open a ticket in Help. Choose the server it is about and we will answer faster.
