How to give OP, turn on the whitelist and ban players
Updated 25-10-2026
You set operator rights (OP), the whitelist and bans with one click in the Players tab or with commands in the Minecraft server console.
The Players tab
Panel → Servers → server → Players shows who is playing, who is an operator and who is banned. Next to a player there are Make operator, Kick, Ban (with a reason) and Unban buttons.
When you turn on RCON (one click, then a server restart), the panel shows the full player list, their inventory and actions like teleporting or changing the game mode. The player card has Profile, History, Punishments and notes and Ranks tabs.
Operator (OP)
An operator can use admin commands: change the game mode, teleport, ban. Console commands (without a slash):
op YourName
deop YourNameGive OP only to people you trust. On a server with plugins it is better to give ranks with chosen permissions: see Ranks and permissions: LuckPerms.
Whitelist
With the whitelist on, only players on the list can join. It is the simplest protection for a server for friends. Turn it on with the Whitelist on switch in the Players tab or with commands:
whitelist on
whitelist add Name
whitelist remove Name
whitelist listBans and kicks
kick Name reason
ban Name reason
ban-ip Name
pardon Nameban blocks the player's account and ban-ip their IP address. The banned list is in Players → Banned.
In the panel console you type commands without a slash, in the game with one, e.g.
/op Name.
